    Mountain Trial 2009 Checkpoint

Does anyone have the grid references of the Mountain Trial checkpoints as I fancy a trot around it this weekend.

go to Si entries where the results are and then click route gadget- you can then see the checkpoints and the routes people took.

Bill, you can see all the courses on the SportIdent site here - http://www.sportident.co.uk/routegad...map&id=1&kieli=
You can also see the routes some of us took.

Hope you have a good day out.

Oops, Karen just beat me to it!

Why not Bill? This is the most useful thing. There were some interesting route choices.

I think he wants to do it first, then compare routes afterwards - that's what I'd do. But I'm not sure whether it would be more useful to pick the best looking choices before hand and link them together - that'd be interesting. I'm still annoyed with myself for completely failing to notice the winners choice on the long leg.

I'd like to find my own way, more fun that way, then compare after.

I'm going over Ore Gap and down Mosdale as I'd say you could just about run the whole way to Wrynose Bottom

Check point 2, is that where the stream comes out of a steep sided gully? All the others look obvious.

Yes, that's the one I missed!

Not sure about the stream/gully. It had a tent and a load of people gathered round it when I got there! You could just about look down on Lambs Foot Dub from it though if that helps

I approached CP2 from above and my memory of it is that it's where the ground levels out a bit after the lumpy drop from the col, if that's any help. You can always use an alti to help determine if you're high enough.

Just realised I camped within the circle of the control point a few years back, I know where it is now

Winds 45/55mph with gusts up to 85 tomorrow

I may just do the first four and drop back into Eskdale!
