In no particular order
Long Mynd Valleys (especially in the snow as this year)
Kinder Downfall
Midsummer Madness (despite usually managing to get lost or injured or both on the Saturday!)
I'll probably have second thoughts once I've posted this. Never ventured as far as the Lakes. Perhaps that should be 'not yet'.
1. Long Mynd Valleys.....( ard)

1) Mountain Trial - the best in the calendar
2) Ennerdale - the best simple race
3) Borrowdale
4) Wasdale
5) Old County Tops
Fairfield horseshoe is a classic loop course (med) and grasmere a short one for a bit of history.
Tuffer
Is enjoying the running
Grisedale Horseshoe
Anni Waltz
Blencathra
Rydal Round
High Cup Nick
thanks all - loads of food for thought
as for Lakes, nearly made the mountain trial this year - a must for next I think, as is one of ennerdale or wasdale - and great lakes run
Buttermere / Ennerdale appeal just cos it's my favourite bit of the Lakes (and the country therefore)
Am I right in thinking then, outside of Scotland anyway, that Lakes races are mile for mile generally seen as tougher than elsewhere, cos of the terrain and gradients?
I have in my mind that a Peaks race would be gentler and grassier?
