    Playa Blanca

Going abroad this year for the first time in ages, has anyone experience of running around Playa Blanca Lanzarote, if so would fell shoes be a bit too agressive? We are staying at the Corbetta which looks well placed for mt Roja, but looking for long distance (don't tell the family!) as it will be around the time of the 3 peaks. I've bought a map and have seen some routes here http://en.wikiloc.com/trails/trail-r...s/playa-blanca

    Cheers.

    lucky you!
Haven't been to the Canaries since I got into running, but I remember the landscape as rocky and dry, so maybe fell shoes would be a tad aggressive.
    ....it's all downhill from here.

i have run up down and around roca six times. Used a pair of approach shoes that i took for knocking around in. Only time i needed more grip was on slopes covered with small ash particles. I google earthed a route up. there is a clear marked one. once you have done it once you can try lots of variations.Hope you have a good time.

Well the slopes to the North East were worth reaching if anyone is thinking of doing the same, although the big mountain that dominates (Hacha Granda or something like that) runs out of defined path near the top so I gave up after a bit as I was alone and didn't want to take risks. However there is a nice run across the ridge to the South of the big fella, which was a 12 mile round trip from Playa Blanca. Mt Roca was great for shorter runs and my road trainers were fine on it.

    Hols were great too!
