is the route marked in anyway or at the least is there usually a fair few people so i stand a chance of being able to follow someone?

im planning this event to pop my race cherry.. but now slightly scared at trying to remember all those details :S

From memory, there are one or two bits that are flagged, but a fair bit that's not. The local fell races are getting more popular with all standards of runner and you should, therefore, have someone in sight at all times.

As for a recce, I'm fairly sure part of the route is on private land and a recce is therefore discouraged - anyone confirm this? Landowners in those parts tend to shoot trespassers first and ask questions later!

I agree with Mr1470. I did the race a couple of years ago. There were plenty of marshals on route to guide the way and lots of runners of all standards so you should mostly have someone in sight. It's a great race to pop your cherry on.

Best of luck. I may see you there.

I'll be down for this, as its technically a 'local' race for me now

Thanks for the details, GW. Now to escape from work before dark so I can get over there. Should've stopped and had a look on the way back from Wales yesterday evening but still had a big day in me legs from Saturday!

Hey Dude. That'd be Tim D then? I couldn't keep up with him if he was walking!

Sadly I'm not about at the weekend - got to go up north to see my dad who's recovering from a heart bypass. Still this has it's compensations as I'll be driving across the Pennines (twice). Done the recce (such as it was) today - see:

Thanks for the offer, Forden. Are you doing the Breiddens race? If so let's arrange to introduce ourselves...

    Cheers
    Jim

Great photos Al, the mist cleared nicely for a great days running & you caught The Great Wanderers tumble nicely.

On a personal note it was the first time I've been over the hour  . Going to have to get fitter.....or younger .
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

Great photos again Al. You picked a good spot. It's usually Pete who deliberatly places him self where he knows people will take a tumbe (like Wrekin Fell Race)

Hopefully The Great Wanderer/tumbler suffered no more than a slight bruised ego.
