    Penderyn Gold - Madeira Cask

Never tried this one before. I picked the bottle up last week for £27 in Waitrose and tried it last night, the cheapest I've seen it and have to say I'm very impressed. It's a very clean, smooth whisky.

I was so impressed I picked another up today

Spotted it in Sainsburys as well yesterday for £29.

I'd say worth a punt at sub £30 if you've never tried.

Back from town after an interesting evening, the highlight being the Welsh clog dancing (it was very, very interesting).
I reached for the first bottle of whisky at home, any whisky. Sorry.

Laphroaig select. Rather overpowering for my tastes but as the Highland Park was £34 I thought I'd give it a go.
I used to like Laphroaig - an easy way to appreciate the darker smoke of peaty Islay whisky. However this is way more complex and although a glass is fine to appreciate the finer finish of American oak casks, it certainly not quaffable.
8/10 but I'll be back to Orkney soon.

Visited the Arran distillery and had a sampling session.

    Arran 21yr
    Arran 10yr
    Amarone cask finish
    Port cask finish
    Cote-rotie cask finish
    The Bothy quarter cask
    Robert Burns malt
    Machrie Moor peated
    21yr single sherry cask
    12yr single sherry cask

A top place to visit and the tasting session is excellent in their fully stocked bar.
