    Today's Single Malt

Got given a nice bottle of Highland Park for my birthday earlier in the year and spotted it in the drinks cabinet earlier in the evening..........will do my packing for the lakes weekend in morning now as it's rather tasty and being consumed way to quickly

It's Highland Park all the way for me - Pound for Pound the best single malt out there.
You've got me jealous there NB lad.

My Mrs has just finished off the last drop of Dufftown tonight. My favourite is Lagavulin though.

Never had Dufftown so I can't comment but all the others mentioned are right up there at the top of the tree. Highland Park is a fine choice for a mellow evening.
As we all seem to share a similar taste, might I recommend something a little off the beaten track? Do try out Connemara, a pot-stilled West Irish malt that more than holds its own in such august company. Its a bit tricky to track down but well worth it.

Just been sorting out the packing list for the OMM. Usually Tyke & I take cask strength single malt, but this year we're going for even better alcohol per ounce. Half single malt (no idea what this time: it's Tyke's turn to supply it). The other half 89.9% alcohol Bulgarian absinthe. I've had the bottle in my cellar for 5 years, & haven't dared open it... What could possibly go wrong?

I will seek that one out. Despite having spent a fair bit of time in Connemara I can't remember trying it.

Enjoying a drop of Glen Ord tonight.

Got any friends in Bolivia? You can get 96% alcohol in the miners' market at Potosi. I reckon some of the coca leaves might be good to chew on the fells, if it works in the Andes....
