A top place to visit and the tasting session is excellent in their fully stocked bar.
That's some tasting session - sounds great.

The Abhainn Dearg distillery tour was well worth it if you are ever on Lewis. Its a real ramshackle place - looks rather illicit were it not for the security on the warehouse. We tried 3 different tasters - the 10yr, an Oloroso cask and a red wine cask. All rather lovely, though at £50+ a bottle , you would really hope so!

I've been out and purchased my favourite 4 from Arran but not yet touched a drop due to dry September.

    Arran 21yr
    Cote-rotie
    The Bothy ķ
    Machrie Moor

Not cheap but excellent on my palate.

Now do I use one for investment or open the lot and enjoy?

Penderyn Welsh Whisky. Birthday present from daughter #2. Very fresh, bright with a hint of citrus fading to a mellow sweetness. Probably not one I would have chosen myself but rather lovely.

Got given a bottle of Arran Single Malt Barrel Reserve today by the owner of a holiday cottage in the village as a thank you for "keeping an eye on it"!

Trouble is I don't like whisky and didn't have the balls to ask him if I could have a gallon of Timothy Taylor Landlord instead.

What do I do with it?

When I say I don't like whisky, I haven't tasted any for at least 20 yrs.

This one is a very pale colour so I'm thinking it might be might be quite mellow.

There is a whisky shop in Bakewell called The Wee Dram, never been in, but they quite often do tastings in local pubs.
Perhaps, rather than opening it to see what it is like, I should call into the Wee Dram to see if he has one open that I could taste.

Failing that I suppose I could use it as Hand Sanitiser!
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

It’ll be very smooth. If you don’t really like it you could put it in tea or mix it with Coke. Alternatively pass it on next time you owe someone a favour

Cherish it. But certainly don't open it.

    Arran Barrel Reserve Bottling Note

An entirely bourbon-matured bottle of Arran single malt! After its distillation on the eponymous island, Barrel Reserve is matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels, bottled at 43% ABV and presented in this rather handsome glass vessel (otherwise known as a bottle).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fresh grass sweetness, lemon tart, biscuity malt and tart apple skin.

Palate: Malty, with Curiously Cinnamon cereal, vanilla fudge and green apple alongside a faint sea breeze.

Finish: Vanilla oak and lots of aromatic spice, with salted caramel and a handful of orchard fruit.

to christen my new glass (pressy from bride and groom at WPette's wedding last weekend) I was tempted by Ardmore at £21 in Morrison.
