    Racing flats

I know this is a fell forum but whilst recovering from jet lag and a stinking cold I am dreaming of my marathon training and road racing to come and hope some new shoes will inspire me. So what are people road racing in at the moment? I am thinking of the Asics DS Trainer, but love the Mizuno Wave Harrier, so might like to hear about their light shoes too, or any others of course.

Is it meant to be this hard?

I do most of my road running in Nike Ekiden flats. Not sure if they still make them, but they are very light but still feel cushioned.

I use Mayflys -- including for marathons. Fantastic shoes and dead cheap. You can get more out of them than the recommended 100K, too. Incidentally, also brilliant for travelling (business or holiday). They literally fold to nothing and take up no room in an overnight bag or suitcase.
