    Training shoes/racing Shoes

    Hi

Just want a quick bit of advice please.

I train over moor & fell doing anything between 6 to 26 miles. I have found my Inov8 Roclite 320's to be unbeatable for straight out of the box comfort. I have therefore been loathed to compromise on this choice of shoe for the past 2 years. However, when doing any short fell races I don't feel, with the extra pace, that I'm getting enough grip in the mud & steep grassy slopes. I'm thinking about getting some Walsh PB or Extreme running shoes for next years BOFRA calendar. What are peoples experiences of training & then racing in completely different shoes ?

    Thanks !

Used to use walshes for racing and trail shoes for training, but have swithched to 330s. Still generally use fell for racing and trail for training but use 330s much more for training than I did walshes as the studs seem to last far longer.

Ps I occasionally use an ancient pair walshes for training but not much. They feel so light after inov8s so I am tempted to try the new talon thingies next.

    Grouse

Thank's for that. I must admit, I'm loathed to switch from Inov8 & may try the 330's.

    Cheers

Well it took me a long time to switch to 330s as I had had problems with 290s (the old grey ones) but when I got them I didn't really want to wear anything else training or racing.

i train in the mudclaws as they are strong and durable over rough terrain but i find when they become wet they seem to weight alot so just use them for training. As for racing i currently use the mudroc 280 or the x-talon dependent on the course and terrain http://www.inov-8.com/Products.asp?PG=PG1&L=26 for the bofras id suggest using the mudclaw 330 - or 270 or any of the mudrocs and even a roclite 285 may be worth a shot try a few on
I ran and ran until my Muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid, ....And then i ran some more.

Cheers, I will do. Just read a review of the X-Talon in the latest Fellrunner magazine. They get a good write up, but apparently the laces are pretty useless ! I basically just want something with more grip on the ascents than my 320's. I've heard that Inov-8 have 2 types of soles: the sticky rubbery one, like in the X-Talon & the harder rubber one that i have in my 320's. I'm told that the stickiness soon wears off &, as such, the grip deteriorates.
