    Thanks for that.

Doing the half marathon might be a more sensible idea.

It's all off-road, is that right?

    FITC,

I've done the short one too. Apart from crossing the road at the top end (past Argentiere on way to Col Du Montets) it's all on lovely tracks, mostly shaded through pine forests. A great race.

    Cheers, Ali.

    Cheers.

This is all convincing me I should do it. Now I just need to get fit enough.

Definately worth doing, first half goes up the Mont Blanc side of the valley, not to steep, then you cross at the top, climb up through the trees and finish at the ski station.

Great support and you could eat loads on the way round if you wanted to, but theres loads at the finish and the post race meal as well

I've lost track now - are we still talking about the Cross i.e Half Marathon? So if so it's mostly gentle uphill tracks for that one.
As to the full marathon , i read on another forum "the climb is more like a staircase than just a steep slope" - so i guess a bigger step up from the Half than just going from Half to Full on the road distance. I'm practising on a stairmaster just in case...
