Championship Points

I wonder why there are different scoring systems for the English and British Champs.

eg V40 Women

English: points are allocated for the First 20 (and only 18 finished at Edale) British: do First 10

In theory the British should be more competitive (I know it isn't) and allocating points further down the field would keep more competitors interested.

I can guess some of the arguments peopple will put forward about the championships being for the elite and therefore you don't need to go down to any more than 10 on each race.

But I would go with having more people scoring points in the British than the English as there are more people eligible to run. The field at Donard was certainly more competitive than at Edale. But for different reasons I suppose.
