No, not some sort of anti-theft measure but like a locked knee, but lower down.

I must admit I've not heard of ankles locking before but it's the only way I can describe what happened to my ankle last night.

I was pootling around the kitchen making dinner when I developed a sudden sharp pain deep in my ankle joint which made it incredibly hard to walk or weight bear in certain positions. I tried a bit of manipulation but it made no difference.

I tried a few glasses of red wine to see if that would help (always worth a shot) but in the end I hobbled off to bed with it still very painful.

By the morning though, apart from the odd twinge going up and down stairs it was much better and I'm just back from 6 muddy miles off road and it's been absolutely fine.

Anyone had anything similar? Any tricks to help unlock a locked ankle a bit quicker?
