    Walsh Ultra fit?

Due to the paucity of decent running shops nearby, I'm planning to buy some new shoes via the internet/mail order.

Anyone give me an idea of how wide the supposedly wide fitting walsh ultras are? I'm a wide/high arched size 10, so find I need to go up to 10.5 for inov8 performance last shoes (e.g. mudroc, mudclaw). Is this likely to be the case for the ultras as well?

No, I wear 10's and 10's for the walshes. I've fat feet and can wear no other fell shoes, but even for me they are a bit boatish.

I'd second what Iain says. I'm an 8 and normally whinge about the lack of width in most shoes. My size 8 Ultras are wi-ide.

don't think I've ever seen a pair of Ultras in the flesh: which Inov8 shoe are they most similar to, Mudclaws?

Likewise, I've not seen any in the flesh - as far as I can tell online, they look just the same, but with wider fit and maybe slightly more cushioning? The name suggests they're meant for 'ultras' hence the need for a more comfy fit/sole.

Normal running shoe size for me in Walsh Ultra. Very comfortable but the heel cup seems wider rather than just the forefoot area which gives a slightly less stable feel (for me anyway).

When was this, Walsh recently changed sizings so a 10=10, used to be 1/2 a size out. I think about a year ago.

    Re: Walsh Ultra fit?

I have had a few pairs of these. I have size 8 1/2 feet but I used to always order size 9 of any running shoe because I have wide feet. Not so with the ultra- very wide and a size 81/2 fits perfect. Don't go large as they seem to expand when they get wet and become lose on the feet. If you get the correct size they are very comfortable and offer outstanding grip.
