Am I getting confused? I don't think so mate. I distinctly remember him running to music a few times, particularly when breaking the 2000m indoor world record about 10 years ago

That weak, he was not exactly plugged into a MP3 was he. The crowd was so loud he would have never have heard it. The difference between breaking the WR, no.

    Watch it here

You like Boxing TH,why do the Americans go on far too long ? That fight today was a disgrace.I bet he earned a fair whack for going over there, and didn't even look like he took a "good 'un"
    Shame,once a good fighter.

Do you want to backtrack any more? First it's elite athletes don't use music, then Gebrselassie didn't run to music, and now it didn't make the difference!? Well he broke the world record and Gebrselassie is on record as saying it helps him perform so maybe you should take it up with him? Jos Hermens used music whilst setting world records as well.

I remember watching the race on TV at the time and thinking it was a good idea (& the basis of my dissertation a few years later). TV rarely does the atmosphere at a football match justice, so don't see why it would with athletics but it was definitely loud and that tinny video doesn't do it justice. You obviously didn't watch the race but my best mate was there and I don't see why he would lie about it? He annoyed me for weeks by telling me how good it was.

I won't be replying on this thread again as you're misrepresenting what I've said, which is quite simply that music is scientifically proven to enhance performance. You're entitled to your view on the video but it's subjective and is actually at odds with what the great man believes himself, so the debate appears to have run its course.

I don't know mate - only know the result but haven't seen the fight. He should have retired after the Tarver fights but he's blown any chance of a match up with Bernard Hopkins now.

He's probably one of the best fighters of the last 20 years but it really is time to go now.

Well that's the first full boxing fight I've ever watched on a phone whilst sat on the throne!

Ref should have stopped it earlier - Jones was done after the KO but I agree, it didn't look like he got caught particularly flush
