Hey, a name similar to mine!

    I might do this event.

Worth saying that it's ideal for people coming back from injury, as there are 3 loops: two of 10 miles and one of 5.5, so it's fairly easy to bow out if there's a problem.

    Much imitated, yet never bettered

Sounds like an event right up my street as I also have the option of walking it as well if I am not back running by then . As a fully paid up LDWA member I should walk one of these events sometimes I suppose .
    No country for old men.

I'm a fairly slow runner, but luckily I haven't encountered a sweeper yet!

But I do remember several skiing holidays when we extracted the max from each day and ended up being the last on the piste apart from the guy clearing the slopes. Having him just behind us guaranteed that we'd fall over!

I used to fear the sweeper until i became one. Sometimes you meet the most interesting people at the back of a race....

I shall look forward to my first time as a sweeper - Jan 27th on The Two Crosses. Mind you I'm used to being at the back in fell races but I would expect not to see nobody who set off as a runner.

BTW if you are thinking of entering, I would be quick as it normally gets full.
