    Dunmail - Honister tomorrow?

    Hi,

Im planning to have a run round BG legs 3 and 4 tomorrow - anyone want to join me? I'm planning to set off around 1am from Honister, then run to the end of the road at Stonethwaite, then round Ulscarf and across to Dunmail - for maybe 4 or 5am. From there leg 3 to Wasdale (10 / 11 am) and leg 4 back to Honister as it gets dark.

    Two questions -

    - Does anyone want to join me?

    - Any advice on where best to park at Honister? I'm migrating north for christmas so have bikes and stuff on/in the car which I'd rather not lose.

    Cheers!

the snow's pretty deep right now. i've just been out and took about twice what I normally do. You'll struggle to run - its knee deep in places and everywhere at least six inches deep. have fun.

You're right on the money there FMA - there's a lot of snow on top of frozen ground across much of the Central Fells. I wouldn't get too optimistic about the ground you'll cover Shelf, it's hard work and slow going! Good Luck and let's be careful out there.

also it was pretty much a white-out above 250m. even in an area I know very well it was very hard to navigate.

Hmm... I didn't realise it was quite that deep. Will have a think and adjust the plan as soon as I finish painting this wall!

Ok going to have a play on the three peaks instead, works better for travelling anyway and should be able to cover a bit more distance.

    Thanks again tinyman and FMA!

good move - you wouldn't have got here this morning. Thick snow. Great for snowmen but not so good for running.

Just about to head out from home on the touring planks. At least a foot deep in the eastern fells.
