I don't want to be a wet blanket, but Jo Waites told me that she pointed out to that young girl Melanie Hyder (Helm Hill) before the start - [and she is very young] that she didn't have a bum bag or anything, when we had been told to carry a cag.

The lasse's dad tied a cag round her waist and away we went.
I noticed a pink cag on the road as we jogged up the hill, and one or two folk remarked that she threw it on the floor after we'd set off.

It wasn't a very nice day weatherwise.

Even an experienced runner like Tim had a bad accident. It's a long way down that hill in the cold when your crocked.

    Kids eh ?

But the good news is I had a mobile and was able to call ahead to the a and e dept - it would have been an amputation otherwise, so I am told!

    Good dad, bad kid !

Hopefully the belated Santa might bring her a bumbag, otherwise she'll not get into your Ovenden race on 5th Jan.

Thanks to Dan, Simon, John, Matt, Michelle and all the others from Ambleside who organised and marshalled at yesterday's race. It can't have been much fun for the summit marshalls. Mel Hyder was in the shop after the race trying on bum bags, so she'll be fully kitted out next time I think.
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.

Full results are now up on the Ambleside website. http://www.amblesideac.org.uk/wansfell07_results.htm

Appologies for the delay - Dan sent them through early yesterday, but i have suffered a major computer meltdown... - also why i couldn't make it to the race .
