    Ronhill Trail Microlight Shell

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on these jackets - just ordered one for the half marathon trail run I've got next week - suspect my £8 Karrimor weatherproof no-hood / dodgy-seams jacket might come apart if it's very windy. Liked the fact that this has a hood on it, as well as the packs-into-it's-own-pocket-with-a-belt feature.

I've got one ordered already so I get it in time, as I couldn't find one to try on anywhere - saw a few other Ronhill shells that seemed to be pretty good, though without a hood.

Jacket arrived in the post today from Sweatshop - looks pretty good and mighty lightweight - packs into its own back pocket and has a nifty belt so you can take it along without taking up space in a waist bag. Nice.

Looking at the weather reports, I should get a chance to try it out properly on Sunday at the Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon where the Met Office promises enough rain to wet your appetite well and proper. Can't believe it will be as wet as the Blaydon Race, though, and that was still mint.

I'll be interested to hear your verdict. I'll probably soon need a new waterproof and I happen to have some vouchers for Sweatshop so if it's good I might be in for one - but I noticed the description on the website only says 'water repellent' which makes me a bit doubtful.
By the way, Sweatshop only seem to have the men's version. What's the sizing like compared to a unisex or women's size?

Hi Latege, I'll post a bit of a review after Sunday's half marathon, which promises to be a bit damp - in terms of sizing, I only just started wearing 'Large' rather than 'Extra Large', so things tend to be a bit snug - the jacket is about right, quite a snug fit now, but not tight, and I reckon it's be spot on once I've dropped a few more pounds.

We sell these and they're definitely not waterproof. It's basically a Pertex-style shower/windproof. I wouldn't say it's particularly light for a windproof at 150g. That said, it's a good quality bit of kit and the belt/pocket thing is a great feature (you can sneak a couple of gels in there too). No taped seams, so wouldn't pass a lot of kit checks. Fine for low level running, but I wouldn't recommend it for a long, wet run on the tops. A womens version is available.
