I don't know about EOD, but if you find out, please post the outcome. Someone else from Helsby is planning to turn up & try! I'm taking Mudclaws & Roclites, & I'll make my mind up when I see how much of the route is pathless. I've not done the Tryal before, so I don't know how much off-piste & steep ground there'll be. Normally I'd wear trail shoes round that area though, particularly when the ground's as dry as it is now.

I'd say Roclites would be fine - good weather last few days has really dried everywhere up. Don't no where the route will take us but maybe around the Roaches and Gun so would be surprised if you need Mudclaw!

Yes it was good: I'm going to look out for it next year. And maybe I won't get lost in the last half mile next time...

Interesting route choice CP1 to 2 Will. I reckon an extra 200ft climbing, marginally longer but you probably at least compensated by using all that road. Well done and congratulations to your old dad. You don't get many over 50s winning races.

A good day out. We took a more scenic route into CP2, having decided NOT to go over Hangingstone we went for the follow-the-Dane and cross it route.
After that we settled for going around rather than over the Roaches, and then had the most navigational fun trying to get across the fields from CP5 to Finish

    Finished just under 3hrs

Unfortunately it clashes with Kinder Downfall which is one of my favourite peak district races. Which one to choose?

I have the same dilemma. Local race I've never managed to do, or a Peak Classic organised by my clubmate.
