How do people convert cycling to running equivilant? Do most of you count it as 2:1 eg. 1 hour's cycling is worth 30 mins running?

This is what I've always done (although 1:1 for turbo training because it's continuous) but I've heard views ranging from 3:1 to 3:2. I try and keep pedalling on the downhills which maybe makes my bike rides 'worth' more...?

I've found that 1 hour for a 10 mile run is equivalant to a 1 hour 25 mile TT so I would say 1:2.5. No freewhelling in a TT!

I've been doing a lot on the singlespeed and noticed a marked improvement when back on the geared one. Also off road i'm carrying it uphill and this has improved my climbing when just running. Easy to clean and maintain as well

I agree with Ady.In experiments I've carried out on myself, there is very little difference in energy consumption between cycling and running, in terms of time.
