I suppose if you find a friendly farmer with a spare corner of a field who just wants a few bob, you're sorted aren't you.
I was thinking more of the Dazh type scenario - a simple van rather than a camper one, and I'm happy just to pull in to a roadside stop for the night most of the time....especially considering the sort of remote, quiet places I'd want to go to!!

I'm liking the idea of an FRA forum sub-sect of itinerant fell-bums living out of the backs of vans Munro bagging and generally living an alternative life-style

but you could only do that for short while surely? Like a weekend in my case! I you were to do a serious spell of travelling round the UK, you'd need some sort of comfort to sleep in, and cooking, washing facilities, etc i.e., a converted van, a campervan, or a tent & camping gear.

On the back road from Lancaster to Caton there has been a camper van parked on the roadside fpr months. The guy was sat in the back of it having his tea when i passed the other night. He has a great view on one side over Morecambe Bay and of Clougha Pike to the other side.

I keep thinking of pulling over to have a chat and see what he is up to but have bottled out so far

    Were going over the country
    And into the highlands
    To look for a home
    Were leaving nothing behind us
And no one will find us
    When we're on our own
I feel the planets surround me
    They gather round me
We're moving out of the city
    We'll pack up the case
    And make for the road
Where flowing rivers will bind us
    Where shadows will find us
    Now we're on our own
I feel the planets surround me
    They gather round me
I feel the planets surround me
    They gather round me

One life, maybe not exactly the same thing, but it might resonate. Someone who gave up a nailed on chance of an Olympic Gold medal simply because it wasnt fun. Someone who made a decision based on what is important to her, rather than social expetations.
