Great evening out guys, thanks for the organisation etc. I tried to say thanks to all the volunteers around the course as I ran, but I may have missed a couple...
Well done to the Juniors out there, my god, some of them can properly run, I need to get out there and train a bit more. In the mean time, I've had a small chance to peck away at the keyboard, and here is a first version race report.

I may come back to it when a little less tired and a little less tipsy and re-edit it, but there you go, enjoy.

Results are up at the Hayfield web site http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/

But there's something not quite right - I came sixth and my son (8) was last and the times for these finishes are correct, but I've moved down one place in the results and my son has moved up one place!

    Hi Joe,

I typed up the results last night so I happen to have the results board handy. Here's a pic of the relevant bits - http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/mq11.jpg

Let me know if you want to appeal! (Look on the bright side, at least you weren't beaten by a 9 year old like me...)

    Cheers, Steve

    Hi Joe,

After a high level inquiry (Mary looked at the timesheets) it seems you were right about Sam and his time was swapped with John Harvey - apologies for this. No word on moving you up a place though - sorry!

    Cheers, Steve

Sorry no reply - just been in the Highlands for two weeks. I don't mind Steve - I thought they might all be out by one - and John Harvey might be disappointed with the extra 4 minutes added to his time!

It was a great race - my son enjoyed it enormously.

Aye, grand, wasn't it. Ta. Such quick results too, while I was still queuing in the chippy.

A lovely evening indeed - thanks to Mary and her team of helpers. Riding to the race on my bike from Didsbury left me pretty goosed for the race, but it's always lovely to run over Lantern Pike on a hot summers evening and it was good training!
