Our son has just phoned, been in the "Green Room" chatting with all tonights star turns, big sigh of relief from him managing to get some giant egos (and some very pleasant ones) in the right place at the right time for the closing ceremony. Hope it's good.

I didn't see the Men's triathlon but my other half told me the Brownlees performed brilliantly so well done to them.

After saying all that however I can't sit back and say nothing whilst a big fraud is being perpertrated. 25 years ago a talented sprinter called Ben Johnson burned the field to run 9.83 in the 100m. Most of those who knew it was dodgy didn't say a word but Carl Lewis spoke out and was branded as a 'bothersome, muttering cynic' in all likelyhood. A year later Johnson ran 9.79 and tested positive at Seoul. Today we have Bolt - another talented sprinter stumbling out of the blocks and running 9.6.

So we're presented with the idea that one talented sprinter without anabolic steroids can run much faster than another talented sprinter on anabolic steroids. Well I say I don't believe it. If that makes me a 'bothersome, muttering cynic,' then I'll take my big juicy steak and eat it.......with Carl Lewis!
I watched Daley too, i was appalled at the ones in the audience who had to be reminded about flash photography and relieved that Tom got to redive. Probably a load of Facebookers needing to prove they were there. That kid who took 2 dives on a busted shoulder showed some grit, though i think he was foolish to risk serious injury like that. He knew the shoulder wasn't up to the last dive and was lucky his subconcious mind didn't intervene and make adjustments to his posture as he entered the water, leaving him in danger of spinal injury. That's my take on it anyway, not that i'm trying to be a muttering cynic about it :w00t:
