Captain Cooks New years day

Great start to the new year, and some SUN for a change.
The icy roads were probably the trickiest bit; I loved the fast descent off the top, then left down the track, really let myself go.
Any idea when full results are likely to be out?

I also found the road sections a bit tricky, lost my bottle and a couple of places on the short bit couple of km's from home, that section through the fields and kissing gates is nice though aint it, mind you its not usually as muddy as that!

I loved it all actually. Just about right distance for me. Descent fast, and not too tricky. Just got caught out by the steep road section before the trail back into Great Ayton.

went through that a few weeks back and didn't envy you lot racing! I think there's a lot of mud at the end of this Sunday's Clay Bank East as well!

I think you were the chap who caught and passed me on the sketchy road section?, but I then ran away from you on the short climb up the road finishing 10 secs ahead of you at the finish, I was running scared down through the fields not daring to look back as I knew if I let up I'd quickly be overhauled!

just had a quick butchers at the results since the first time I ran the race in 2003, my times range from a best of 34:50 to a worst of 39:50, quite a big swing, with 37 and bits probably being my average. Rather disconcertingly for me I was 1minute30 slower than last year :closed: onwards and upwards :w00t:

Ah, yes that was me. Wasn't expecting the steep hill where you passed me.
The finish caught me by surprise too, so didn't time my finish properly.
Will be better prepared next year ;-)

I think there's a lot of mud at the end of this Sunday's Clay Bank East as well!

Just marked the course, yes there is a clarty section of about 400m or so in the last mile, no way to avoid it, the descent into the finish after is in good condition.

Clay Bank East tomorrow sunday 6th Jan at 9.1km and 300m climb is fairly similar.
