Sounds like the swaledale is very similar to my event I'm organising!! The Preseli Beast! It's a new event over a very scenic and demanding course over the same distance. Although there is a smaller Beast bach(welsh for small!) too for those who can't, 'Tame the Beast!' There's more details of the race on my website, http://preselibeast.wordpress.com/ but I still haven't worked out how to put the map on it yet. Maybe one day! Get in now before the entries fill up!!

    Caz the hat.

We received a confirmation email to say we were in, the day after we sent the entry forms.

I don't think we're in, given that the website was reading 'full' on Sunday evening.

reserve list it is then - probably worth writing an email to say you're still keen

    Re: Swaledale Marathon

Went for a recce of part of it on Saturday, got a little lost in the snow on Punchard Moor

After the Low Faggergill checkpoint, all the routes I've seen on the interweb follow the road past Whaw then the bridleway back to Great Punchard Gill. Is there any reason not to take the footpath direct to the main road from Low Faggergill, and then cut across country to pick up the bridleway higher up?
