Full body cover wasn't a requirement today, a 'windproof' was, it was anounced on the tannoy and there was a notice at the start. I think the requirement for a windproof was fair enough. It was unfortunate for you funzle22 and fair play to you for taking it as you have.

Really enjoyed that today. Saw RR at end, JJ at beginning, Crumbly junior (?) sported a massivley muddy top, Manhar I only saw as I was driving away. Very professional event. I was way down in bottom half but 3.5 min up on last time and 9 min up on time before that.

Highlight of my day was getting a smile from Graham B.

    Nail and head, I think!

My advice would be to always arrive at a race with full kit just in case, and to respect the decision of the organiser whatever it may be. Even if that decision seems barking mad, at the end of the day the organiser has made the race possible, put a huge commitment into it, and will carry the can in a law court if anything goes wrong. All of us who run have a duty to support him or her.
Wherever possible though, it would be helpful to runners if organisers could indicate minimum kit requirements in advance. To take today's event as an example, conditions are unlikely to ever be better, so 'Competitors to carry windproof cover as a minimum' could be advertised ahead of the race. This is particularly helpful where (as today) people have to park a long way from the race HQ.
However, conditions on the day - even in midsummer - can force organisers to stipulate full kit right up to the last moment, so it is sensible for runners either to arrive early enough to park close enough to the HQ to switch kit after registration, or else turn up with a full bum bag anticipating the worst.

I remember them both well. If you're not careful Graham you might start to get a reputation of being sociable.

Speaking of smiles, I noticed several photographers en route. Having put some effort into contorting my features into the rictus that passes for a smile after 1000ft of ascent, does anyone know where the pictures might appear?

I was one of the photographers (up near Stoop). The photos will be on the Tod Harriers website soon(ish). Steve Bateson was up there too (Runningpix). John Crummett of Tod was taking pics of the juniors and the race finish, these will also be on the Tod Harriers website (eventually).

If your pic doesn't get on (I'm not putting on all 900!) you can always email me to ask if I happen to have any with you on that are not on the website. Just tell me your race number and club vest.

Thanks, I might do that. I normally manage not to appear, as at Borrowdale (though in that case the photographers had probably packed up and gone home). I'm reminded of Invisible. Speaking of whom, has anyone seen him recently?
