Darren Fishwick, Chorley.
With you on the quality of the route. Prior to this, Borrowdale was my favourite race in the Lakes (it helped that I had a good un back in 2016, including a good battle with the venerable Mr Fishwick for much of the way). Langdale is also a cracker, though it’s kicked my backside both times I’ve done it. However, despite having fallen off the back of the race early on, I am in awe of what a fantastic race it is. I went with a group up the steepest part of Robinson, with terrain that felt nothing like any other race I’d done. It’d be an interesting race in the clag with its more modestly sized field in a non-champs year!
Carl Bell clearly had a fantastic race but I think Jasmin Paris might take run of the day - smashing her own record by some way. Add to that having a baby under 1, that’s some effort (& puts my own excuses, about being a dad of twins of a similar age, to shame!)
In some ways it seems a long time since last weekend...….
However I have uploaded an excel file of the all of the cumulative and split times to each checkpoint.
You can now admire the leg times of the top runners.
I suspect that Carl didn't get the fastest time on each leg, but I'll leave it to you to check - got to be better than watching the world cup?

And, Gordouli, we are looking forward to seeing you.
Worth recording that this race is FANTASTIC. It was a little cloudy and mizzly and I think just under 80 runners started the long race. But despite some wet in the clouds on the tops it was warm enough in a vest all the way round. So many highlights on this route: the long high ridge to Hopegill Head; the knot of runners in the clag at the hause after Grasmoor seeing who would take a lead on which path to follow to Whiteless Pike; the long descent down past Red Pike; the little trod off Mellbreak - even here the running is tricksy with slanted juniper roots and angled gravel. I also ended up in chest high heather for some time...
The Aladdin's cave of chilli, local beer and cake in the back room of the village hall was a sight to behold.
And lying by the church in Buttermere in the evening enjoying the calm and the view of all the peaks we'd been over.
You definitely need plenty of oomph in the legs for the long climbs up Dale Head and High Crag...
Decisive win for Brennan T, he clearly loves this one just for its own sake.
Thanks again for some very happy memories!
