    Ashamed, Chris? I can only assume you meant you are ashamed that you were so fast (considering it was only a recce) and you didn't give yourself a chance to take it all in as everything whizzed past in a haze. Were you aiming for the win on Saturday, by any chance?

    Seriously though, that's pretty quick considering the mud platforms you were running on (I remember it well) and it wasn't the real race.

    See you all on Saturday. Are there any of Paul M's guineapigs on here? I'm quite looking forward to the rests at the checkpoints during the bloodletting procedures.

    Why was Luton cancelled, mxh? Something serious must have happened to cancel an event like that?

    Beaten to it. Organisers had no real option and I have no quibbles about it.

    On the positive side I should be that bit fresher for Saturday now, I was quite dubious about not getting drawn in to running faster than planned on the day.

    Oo-er. That looks serious. Cancellation was obviously the only decision the organisers could have taken. I'm glad to hear no-one was injured.

    In fact in all seriousness if the weather is going to be crappy then I'd recommend packing that second bag full of dry clothes that gets taken to about the 30 odd mile point (the soup stop in fact) I remember feeling very jealous of those donning clean DRY gear as we stood freezing and wet
