Red mullet, steamed with tomato and ginger. Rice and stir-fried cauliflower, turnip and red pepper.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

Dodds Ambleside.... which I think has already had a mention or two on this thread...

Had an Inferno Pizza and bowl of chips/wedges...

I’m quite a fiend for hot food so wasn’t expecting the pizza to blow my head off... but it was pleasantly hot, certainly mopping my brow a little towards the end!

At lunchtime had a very tasty Sundried Tomato Premium Sausage Roll from the Apple Pie Bakery next to Dodds... this was pretty gorgeous as well. Quite a unique taste for a Sausage Roll...

This is the food of the gods! My wife will not eat ordinary black pudding but loves this! My sister in laws mother (from Stornaway) knows the butcher. It can be got by mail order.
Best I could manage today after a 4 hr run in Upper Wharfedale was pies form the butcher at the Threshfield Spar - very fine. They are an outpost of the Pateley Bridge butchers.

Now researching English stockists of Stornoway black pudding. One not too far from daughter 1. Ideal Christmas present for dad! 😁

Homemade or tinned? think It’ll be years since I’ve had the homemade version

Tinned unfortunately, tasty but a little on the sweet side. However on my next shopping trip I'll be hunting down some semolina flour to make my own pudding and will be serving it with a dollop of my homemade raspberry jam.

Had a fantastic Lamb meal from the Thai restaurant in Ambleside.... not Doi Intanon... the other one...

Also picked up a couple of Scotch Eggs from the service station on the A66/A592 junction just outside Penrith.... 1 x Pulled Pork Scotch Egg and 1 x Smoky Joe Scotch Egg.... perfect pre-run food!
