Great support effort Simon, great resilience from Bill to keep his spirits up and focus on completing. Thank you all for the updates and pictures, it makes it all more real to me as a spectator.

I was in Wasdale at 4 pm ish, and saw a female BG contender being well looked after in the NT car park. If that was Elise and she set off at midnight, I think she looked good for a completion.

Sorry to say Elise bailed near Red Pike, down on time and the weather came in rough. She soldiered on to Honister missing out the summits, the weather got progressively worse, hailstones and wind under Kirk Fell. Brave effort that lady.
    And brave effort Bill

I thought that was you Alan ..... I saw you getting changed by your car and nearly came over and said hello but wasn't sure. If you'd had your cap on I'd have recognised you

As Steve has already said, Elise was as brave as heck to battle on, but the weather got really ugly after Red Pike and she was wise to call it a day. The trek back to Honister wasn't funny for anyone, especially the torrential rain and hailstorm we had while skirting under Kirk Fell. She'll be back to fight another day I'm sure.
