Chris, i've just read the article again and i see how you meant it now, i interpreted it the wrong way round. People were sharing their views with you as a representative of the FRA, not the other way round.

    Thanks for the latest copy.

    Wonderful as usual.

Mr Breeze. Surely you have some editing power?

Why are we still using the term ladies in race results and reports.

If nothing else it is bad grammar.

I was taught at primary school that it is:

    man and woman
    Men and women

    Lady and gentleman
    Ladies and gentlemen

I know that most people on here won't even notice but surely is very old fashioned.

If you want to attract more women to fellrunning as detailed on threads here before it might help to think about wording.

Well I think Male and Female is preferable and Open and Ladies is just odd and inconsistent; but my influence is miniscule compared to that of the editor who is female and to whom I suggest you write.

The rules of my athletic club (Thames Hare & Hounds) still include Rule IX: "No one shall be elected a member who is not over 14 years of age or who is not a gentleman or lady by position or education." I object to race reports referring to "men" rather than "gentlemen".

You may be interested in the following event which has some relevance to this subject: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/news-events/...re-warden.html . I think anyone can book to watch online.

I don't really like female either. That's like people are scared of saying the word woman.

I don't suppose you watched Friday Night Dinner? With two teenage boys in the house it is one of the programmes we have watched a lot of in the past.

With the wonderful Paul Ritter as the dad who recently sadly died.

The sons constantly Make fun of his way of calling all women, females.
