I'm up for another Stolly support as a mule, not good enough with the route to navigate yet:w00t:

That'd be great Ian if you are available. "Proper" way round this time with probably a 7 pm start. Fortunately having now run the route 'a bit' I think I've got the navigation pretty much nailed, which was definitely not the case last year, and I also now have an ambit2 as back up too. I'd really like to go your way up Fairfield via Cofa Pike and you also do some corner cutting going up Great Dodd don't you?

You're on the list too protodoc

Harry has just joined up for road support so I'll be getting his panniers loaded up with sweet on one side and savoury on another

Learning from this year's mid-summer attempt, I reckon a tarpaulin for the car to provide shelter from rain and wind would be a good idea too.

Totally unnecessary, other than to keep the sun off

Hi Stolly, keep me in mind for either Leg 2 nav or carrying depending on which Ian Dark peak prefers.
Never measure the height of a mountain until you reach the top, then you will see how low it is.

Its just after you've gone through the fence where instead of following the curve of the path you take a straighter line but over tussocky grass. I doubt it makes a huge difference

(This is as DT explained to me anyway )

Ah, I'm with you. There's not much slack in the line between Clough Head and Great Dodd and I was curious as to what this could be ... for what it's worth, I did the Helvellyn & Dodds race a few weeks back and on the return from Great Dodd was contemplating a few alternate lines. I wasn't brave enough and stuck to the main trod
