    Question again... Trail shoe (Saucony?)

I've some RX Terrain Fell shoes, but most of my off-road running is not too harsh and I'd like some cushioning.

Any suggestions for low-medium profile trail shoes? Most Trail shoes have road soles which are too tall for decent stability.

I tried various Inov8 in a shop and none of them fitted me....

I use Saucony road shoes and they do fit well. What are the Grid Labyrinth like?

    Salomon XA?
    Montrail?

    Cheers.

I've just invested in a pair of Nike Kyotes and find them to be very grippy, sleek, resonably lightweight and really comfortable. They feel good on tarmac and hard track and are OK on the fells too. You can't descend like a madman in them as they are taller in the ankle than a fell shoe, but not by that much, certainly a not much more than a swoop, say.

Many of my recent fell training runs have been done in them. The cushioining does help protect your joints and muscles a bit and is worth trading off against the low profile of fell shoes when you're not looking to go too fast. I;d never race in them though, ankle would be very vulnerable on a fast descent.

I would recommend them, best pair of trail shoes i;ve ever had.

I recently bought a pair of salomon speed cross and my initial impression is that they are a very good shoe.

Mizuno Wave Harriers - very comfortable and ideal for when the ground is hard. They have loads of room in the toe, so they suit a wider foot which is great for me, but doesn't suit all.

Montrail Highlanders - A bit hardcore for a trail shoe I suppose but I've changed my mind completely about these. At first these felt big and cumbersome. After about 100 miles in them I realise they're top notch. Very comfortable and ideal for long training runs, they also cope well with wet bog as well as being cushioned enough for spells on the road. Quite a few in my club wear these on training runs and when I did an ultra this year they seemed a very popular choice.

    Cheers.

Got mine in Running Bear a few weeks ago. I took a chance on them having never heard of them either. Very good, better grip than the Mizuno Wave Harriers.

Happy with mine Dom. I'm only using them when the ground is dry to save my knees over-heating. I would consider wearing them in a fell race if over dry/hard ground, but wouldn't be too confident on grass. Wore them for the Red Kite 11+ mile & the Race The Devil 18 mile trail races at the weekend & found them ideal.

Have I mentioned that those 2 races were fantastic anywhere ?
