The old railway line which is a footpath just as you come out of Threlkeld on the right. 4 miles flat. Nice route. Brings you out at the old railway station near the Swimming pool in Keswick and avoids any roads.
To the best of my knowledge the bridges on the path were washed away or damaged. I don't think you can get directly back to Keswick. There are diversionary routes but it may take you a bit longer

That's great - thanks Andy
Head up to the Blencathra centre http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=330...5577&A=Y&Z=120 then follow footpaths back to the car park at the back of Latrigg and reverse the outward path or once you've crossed Glenderaterra Beck take the lane underneath Latrigg back to Keswick.

Without me you'd be one place nearer the back
There is a road which takes you back to the road under Latrigg. Its more or less opposite the new cafe, but a little more towards Keswick, the L100 used a part of it to divert off the railway path. It drops down to the entrance to the old railway, where the hut/info board is, then it's a short climb up on road to the gate which takes you over Latrigg or on the road under it.

I'd park in Threlkeld and get the bus into Keswick
