Anybody know if this is on the roads or the fells?

You do ask some odd questions AG mate. You could always phone the number. You aren't a newcomer anyway.
One would assume it was on the fells as it is a have a go at fell running night. But on the other hand I can see that the time of 6.45 pm will give a newcomer a nightime experience too which is a bit like a deep end in itself.
It does say "Have a go at fell running" ?
Although I quite fancy a fell race on the road?
Its on the roads. Steep roads, but roads nonetheless. As Chris pointed out, it's too dark at the moment to take beginners onto the fells and expect anyone to come back another week.
It's really aimed at encouraging folk who'd like to run with a group but are a little unsure. Its like: start with a friendly bunch on steep lanes at your own pace and then get confidence to join us on the fells.
We've done it a couple of times before and its been successful in getting more people to give it a go.
B*gger, I've just seen this thread and realised i've missed it!!
Really need to join a club to improve fitness/ motivation.
When is the next Have a Go Night?
(or are there any other clubs which run these types of intro sessions?)
Cheers
Just come down on a Tuesday anyway, Nelly. There are always runners of all abilities on a Tuesday night - 7pm from Mytholmroyd Community Centre. Its sociable but pushes you out of your comfort zone if you strive for it!
It does help with the motivation to run with other people, especially when the evenings are dark and damp.
This Tuesday isn't the best evening, though, since we're doing a night navigation competition for something a bit different - unless you want to go for that! And sometimes we have away runs from somewhere else apart from the MCC.
Keep an eye on http://www.cvfr.co.uk/Club_Pages/Training/training.htm to see what the run is.
Judging by your avatar, you can have debates with Leeds Rhino!
Our next "Have a Go" night will be after the clocks change and we're back doing good runs on the fells.
Cheers, Bill

Wimps, Dark Peak ran last wednesday from the Snake Inn and went up Kinder Scout, weather was foul head count was 27 including two newcomers on their very first fell run. After chatting in the pub afterwards they couldn't wait for this wednesday.
Stupid people make the best descenders.
