Big crowd from Pennine going over the border for this one. Sounds like it should be a fun weekend.
i will be there
Recceing Ras Yr Aran instead. Sounds like a very steep descent in the Pipe Dream so no way I'm risking the arm. Doing farndon 10k on the Sunday, which sounds hilly/undulating.
here's the map, and you can even say hello to the marshalls by name!

I've not done it, I've just been told by the wife and others there's sections of descent through the woods which are steep and I think the steepest section is infact the road.
I was going to start doing a few fell races and then sort of pull out at the top, and just run downhill steadily, but I don't trust myself to not get competitive. So I'm going to stick with hilly road races, until the end of March when I have Ras Yr Aran, Edale and Spelga, hopefully I'll get all 3 done, but Ras Yr Aran isn't a deffo at the mo.
bit of a dubious 5 miler this one and the ascent aswell.............I get it at 4miles / 1250ft..........................descent is pretty similar terrain to ascent as I recall, though not as steep....can be quite muddy and slippery with a few rocks thrown in....mainly down through the woods.................
Hi Iain,is it possible to do a recce of this race ? I have e-mailed the organiser(graham someone) asking if it was possible. However have had no reply.Looking at the map of the route it seems to cross some rather open farmland, and with lambing etc,i don't want to cross land without permission.IainR Recceing Ras Yr Aran instead.
It's no problem, all the upland is now open access land anyhow and prior to that I believe it's a PROW.........years ago access was only allowed due to National Park paying landowners across the ridge (there's some 15 of them) to allow access but since CROW act that's been superceded. A rule which was strictly applied back then was no dogs but not sure about that nowadays.
Otherwise great route to recce, especially descent....best day out is to get 2 cars and run from Llanuwchllyn all way to Bwlch Oerddrws
