I have a copy and I think its an excellent book - a much needed guide to 35 of the best hill races in Scotland and to 35 great hill running routes as well, spread out around the regions. The book I always wanted to write myself, and certainly one I badly needed! Just about the right level of detail as well, it doesnt set out to be an accurate, race-ready guide to the routes (so no substitute for Pete Bland style race maps) but gives sufficient detail for you to get a vivid picture of the race, and certainly enough for you to be able to follow the excellent hill run route descriptions with the extra aid of an OS map.
Buy now - great value at £9.50 on Amazon at the moment....
Thanks. I was going to get Santa to order me one from Amazon but they don't have it in stock any more. I'll just have to wait.
Amazon are sending out books today and tomorrow. There's new stock arriving too, tho the website currently says 2-3 weeks dispatch - however I think that will change tomorrow or Thursday - link here . Amazon are currently selling at £9.50 (incl p&p), but if you must have it now, you can also order it direct from the distributor, Cordee for £10 (plus p&p), who doesn't run out of stock - link here .
As to the maps in the book, they're only intended as a guide ! However, if you've got a GPS/iPhone or mapping software like Memory Map or Anquet Maps, you can download GPX files for each route all for free from my website - link here . There is also a list of some of the stockists on this webpage.
I hope you'll all enjoy this book ! All comments on the book appreciated.
Steven
Picked one of these up for my Xmas stocking in Pete Bland Sports last Friday.
Looking forward to reading it over Xmas hols.
Cheers Steven.
The only one who can tell you "You can't" is you. And you don't have to listen.
Now reduced to £8 on Amazon!
Great. I went for the Amazon option £2 off = 4 packets of fig rolls, which will get me around some of the runs.
Just ordered it but when I got the confirmation E Mail they have added £2.75 post and packing. Must have pressed a wrong button somewhere, its supposed to be free delivery.
I've just been on the website and its let me change the delivery to a free one - seems it might automatically select first class post for you (even though it advertises free delivery) unless you ask otherwise, or maybe I just did something wrong - anyway it now says delivery after 25th December.
