    Re: three peaks

    Well done folks,

I was in the Novice class yesterday. My race prep. focused on energy drinks, electrolyte, food and painkillers, in other words all the stuff to help blank out a lack of long training runs and a niggle I was carrying (not alone there).

First thing that happen to me was a nose dive coming off PyG as my left leg disappeared thigh deep in a bog. Then about 20 yards on, just as you rejoin the path my right foot caught in more bog, momentum took my stride forward and my right shoe shot off into the distance!! I retrived said shoe, and thought "I'm in for a long day".

But that was it, the rest of the race went like clockwork. I met Moo half way up Whernside and we ran in together for the rest of the way for 4:23.

I only went in for this race beacuse of the excitment generated on here so thanks for that folks. And I could not have done it without the great advice I got from Dark Peak lads about taking it steady, especially the flat bit to Ribblehead.

Tigers Todger - race on Wednesday night !!

Did you notice 63% of the entrants were in the vet category?

I really did think that the cramps was down to ill preparation by me, but I see that a lot of us suffered with it big time. I spoke to my friend this morning (John Hunt), who came 7th, he too suffered coming off Ingleborough, so even the elites suffer too. I will ask a nutritionist I know for her advice and get back to everyone.

I was too slow to get into Andy's photos. It's a good excuse to train harder for next year
