Bad move this one is going to be, bringing very pricey road shoes out which are just EVA filled is crazy in my opinion. It will also be very hard for them to compete in a market where there are many well established brands Nike, Saucony, Adidas ect, who have very challenging prices which will be much more substantial. Being minimal is all well and good but the other brands have also stated to do this..firstly Nike with there run free series, Saucony are about to launch minimal shoes in SS11, New Balance have some new minimal shoes coming out, Asics have a minimal trail shoe for SS11. Inov8s new road shoes are all going to be around the 100 quid mark which is extreme. When they came into the Off road market in 2003 with the mudroc 290 they hit a very small market with lots of choice which is why they have done so well, as there used to be few off road manufactures so when one company specialises in fell running its great news but when you have lots are other choices in the road market hmmm??, Inov8 stick to what you know making good fell shoes !
I ran and ran until my Muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid, ....And then i ran some more.
agreed.
£100 for eva, daylight robbery!

£ 100 ??
I don't even know what EVA is but when I need road shoes I go to Sports Direct or JJB. They have so many sales theres no need to pay more than £ 35 - £ 40 for a very good pair of shoes.
Very well put Mr Baistow. Can't add much to that. I think you've summed it up perfectly.
Aren't these just fancy coloured F-Lite 195/230s at inflated prices. There is no more technology in there, no more design. Minimal build is their selling point so why the high price. These would sell well for about £40 and they would still be making money on them.
EVA has been around for a long, long time. If you look at the technology of running shoes very little technology actually sticks. Asics Gel, Nike Air are two that have, but most are just bullshit gimmicks. Reebok Pump, Adidas Tubular, Nike Free, Nike Shox, Newton forefoot, Vibram 5 fingers, Adidas Oregan to name a few. I despair of some of the latest Asics shoes, Kinsei, Kayano. Who they heck are they aimed at???
I've no idea whether Inov-8 will make the grade in road shoes, but I'll happily give them a go if my newly open running shop stocks them.
