I'd recommend the chain and padlock route. It's much more versatile in terms of what you can lock your bike to. I used to have some of that Kryptoflex stuff and an Abus.
Lived in South Manchester for almost ten years and touch wood never had a bike nicked. You can sling the chain around your shoulder so you don't have to take a bag.
I'm sure you haven't but don't forget lights; I got stopped by the cops a few times as a dumb lightless student!
Yep, the "dumb lightless students" are much in evidence around Lancaster! And how come it is the one's without lights that never wear any reflective gear, always dressed completely in dark clothing?? Death wish or repeat victim syndrome?
A light not a lock I know but, Fibre Flare rear lights are without doubt the best rear lights for a bike possibly at any price.
