Good call Steve. I was debating the best route down Geronimo on Sunday, having strayed too far left (I think) on a previous recce. I will be doing exactly as you advise on the day.
Re. Fell shoes (or not) - you definitely want something with big studs underneath coming down this one! I think Mudclaws will be a good idea for the last few climbs too, any extra grip will help!

Hi Martyn,
Good advice, I did a recce of the full tour last week and nearly came a cropper descending geronimo on the muddy path, will be veering to right on the day I think ( a long way behind you I might add). Having the odd mild anxiety attack when thinking about that last hill/climb now, will definitely require large measures of tenacity/desperation to get me up it. It was bad enough on the recce!
Hopefully the weather will be better than the Langdale Horseshoe.

Yep its definitely wise to stay right of the muddy trod. It is marked if you look:
Once you've hopped over the stile and are heading along the trod alongside the wall, and you pass the corner of the wall, most people carry straight on towards gernaimo, but if you veer too the right a little, you'll still find yourself on a trod, within 10-20 yards there is another trod heading towards geronimo (to the left)....it is a faint one, but if you continue along the line of the trod, you'll end up on a nice line down to the bottom.
