if it's worked - attached is a zip file of my guesstimate of the route. If you can work out how, you can download it and view the route in bikehike or something similar (see thread in general section.."attaching gpx files to forum p")

a few bits i've actually been over, some of it i know from the wuthering hike and a couple of bits i'm just guessing.

    Anybody got any opinions?

or is this just taking the adventure out of it?

I was thinking of getting the map out a couple of days beforehand & guessing what might be the fastest route. It's called the "good enough" approach. I don't think it'll spoil the surprise too much. Mind you, I do think the best events are the ones where you don't know the route until the day - Mountain Marathons, South Shropshire Circular for instance. It would be good if they did that every 3 years on the Calderdale Hike too, rather than publish the new route in advance.

Now that would be brilliant and it would even out the field more giving those that can navigate an edge on the fast runners that know a route like the back of there hand

I am missing Calderdale this year in favour of the Coledale Horseshoe, now that is going to be a busy fellrace.

    Enjoy it People

No criticism implied Mark - I don't care if everyone recces the route beforehand & publishes their best route. I'll probably use that info too!
