Been taking it steady last week or so due to a pain in right knee. So after a good winter of training is this forced rest going to help? Hoping to beat last years 15hrs 19 mins. Number 104 bring it on....
Here's the story with the map;
So now you know!Hi Andy
As previously
stated, we do not as yet have a delivery date for the map, so it did
not make it to the equipment list (written in December) and is therefore
not in the envelope with the handbook. It is hoped that it will arrive
in time for the event, our intention is to give these out, free to every
starter, at registration.
We are insisting that everyone bring their
own maps (as per the rules in the handbook), as it may not be to
everyone's taste, or scale. Our apologies for any further confusion.
Best wishes,

i only got a book too 9sqrun and wonderd wether tally card and such would be with it too and like you a first timer and my mrs never got to it
Your circular tally card and race number (race numbers were only introduced in the last few years) are given to you after you have registered and passed all the kit check requirements. Although there is talk of a special 50th anniversary map for this event, it has always been a case of supplying your own OS maps to cover the whole route, and it would be a good idea to take your own just in case the event map does not materialise. The handbook really does have all the information you need. Take the time to read it thoroughly and make sure you have everything withyou on the day, or risk not being allowed to start.
You won't get number 1 for the Fellsman unless you were last year's winner. If last year's winner doesn't start then there won't be a number 1.
I seem to remember this convention being adopted after one of the committee members did the event as number 1 and lots of people just assumed that he was the previous year's winner - so we did that from then on.
