    Apperley Bridge Canter

Has anyone on here done this one before? What shoes would you recommend?

Entry form says a mix of terrain, but the photos i've seen all show road or canal towpath.

Do you need some grip (Inov-8 X-Talon's), or will racing flats do the job?

    Any advice appreciated

    Ta

Road shoes definitely unless very wet.

A few woodland tracks and paths in addition to the road and canal, but nothing to worry about if mostly dry. Worst bit might be the grass around the field to finish if it's wet.

It's a little muddy in a few places but nothing daft. I would go for flats or trail shoes, whatever is most comfortable. I did it in flats when I ran it a couple of years ago. I'll be marshalling just before a short tunnel on the river bank so see you there. Steady away along the river and then thrash it along the canal for a fast time, but save a little for the last section as it doubles back a short way along the river next to the finish.

I've ran this several times and found road shoes ideal, it can be muddy between the small woods/tunnel section if it's been raining, but it's only a very short section. The first half is mixed road/track/trail (I'd class it as rolling) and is bang on 5k before you reach the canal section which is about 4k long, then go onto the road and back into the school grounds for the last 1k.

Oh, now I understand. I think you should stand in the tunnel with a torch.
On a serious note the marshal's and organisation were first class, many thanks to all.

Hadn't realised this race was now a fell race, was certainly pretty flat when I last ran it! ........http://fellrunner.org.uk/results.php?id=1912

It had a long climb at the start followed by a long descent.
Maybe a route for the next inter counties fell champs.

Title says, None Fellrunning, other races.
    That's the clue MT
