At Pennine FR we've always felt that we catered for all ages of runners. Well, at last night's training run we had an age span of 57 years - from 14 year old James to 71 year old Roger. Not bad going! Needless to say young James was always near the front of the pack. Always good to see enthusiastic youngsters coming through.
It was a very pleasant 10km run as well, taking in Cracken Edge and the Dragon's Back above Hayfield.
20.1 miles today, only 75F today, so 20 mile road run 6:40 pace.. quick milkshake and Wawa sandwich.. then took the XC training session so did another 5 miles steady..
Amazing how much better you feel running when its just 25 C outside and not 35 C.. feeling better for Chicago now..
Decent week again.. coaching the team is quite a time commitment so doing easy days when needed, still 90 miles and 3 good sessions.. need to start racing more now.. but that's a good 8 weeks of decent mileage (averaged 90/week) and more quality runs as we get cooler days.
m: lunc 6.5 miles trails and around newton lake, steady 7:20 pace. Pm: 3.5 miles with XC team
t: tired eveing run 7:47 pace
w: am: 5am run around cooper river. 2.6 miles at XC then 6.6 with 3.6 at tempo pace 5:43 pace around Cooper river.. felt tired so good session considering
t: am: runaround newton and cooper river at 6:30 am, 8 min mile pace, nice run. Pm: 5.16 around newton and cooper with with missus
f:am: 20.1 miles 6:40 pace in Philly, felt great. pm: 5 miles slow with the XC team
s: very easy 5.1 miles 8 min pace
s: 13.2 miles 6:52 pace on roads and trail, very warm, and very very humid.. over 30 C and 70% humidity so it was just good to get a decent run done today..
Want to start adding rest days or at least one day a week of 5miles or less slow.. I was too monotonous before.. almost 12-13 miles every day.. Need more 16-20+ milers and then easy days. But with the training the team I can run with them for easy miles on nice trails.

Family Tup ran tonight with the Keighley club toward Bolton Abbey and back on the Dales Way followed by excellent catering by Rich and Jan Hin, then local beers in the Swan
Oldest runner was the 73 year old KCAC legend PetShopPete and the youngest was Clare's unborn baby due in a couple of months. An utterly splendid late summer / early autumn evening out
Poacher turned game-keeper
And that makes 5 "recovery runs" up Cader Idris in 5 days (Birthday special). Finishing with a training PB on the Ty Nant/Foxes Tarn/Pony Path circuit.
Friday 5k 30 mins.
