It may be a psychological thing - I took longer to recover after my two failures than after my success - or perhaps it just felt longer.

Without me you'd be one place nearer the back
Thanks for your replies. It's reassuring to know that recovery can take a while. I've been feeling ok (apart from sore knees) until this weekend whernI was struck by some kind of virus-sore throat, fever, utter tiredness etc. So it's been enforced rest for me. I was thinking originally of getting back to form for borrowdale but now I'm going to just see how things go. My aim now is to enjoy the summer with my children, go out for club runs, not get stressed whether I'm doing too much or too little running etc. All the best for the dragons back, dinof. Now that's a different thing altogether. ....
4 years for my Achilles to recover.

My Legs were fine but my stomach took over 5 days to settle down and I could eat normal again. The only thing I said after I finish was I hate food and I would never ever eat again!
My stomach is my krptonite. After 4-5 hours I start to slowing down and by 8-10 hours I become too sick and weak and what ever I eat it stick on my chest

Having just scraped home with my BG in September 2013 I recovered pretty quickly, pretty much carrying on with my running as before (anything from 30 to 50 miles a week at that time). From checking strava I actually supported a BG leg 3 a week after and ran the route of the 4 lakeland passes a week after that.
Funnily enough though come December 2013 and early 2014 my running wheels completely fell off. Again I carried on putting the miles in but I was feeling completely drained and mangled which may, or may not, have been influenced by my BG-ing.
I went and did legs 3 and 4 supporting a mate 2 weeks after mine,3 was ok but going into 4 was tough. takes ages to get any speed back unless you work hard at it
