Did it in 85 and 86 with MUCCC.
Had a belting time, drank myself stupid, ran like a jogger, and was ill afterwards for a week.
Remember running across the island after the Peel race, pub-by-pub.
I could go on...
Hope its not changed.
I'm going, but haven't been before - by all accounts it's a legendary weekend!
I'm sure Oxo or Gravymuncher can tell you more...
'That's what you get when you suffer - you get results'
It's awesome!!!! I've been for 3 of the last 4 years, can't recommend it highly enough! Georgerunner, MUCCC will be there again as ever, if you fancy it?
I've already entered the Manx Mountain Marathon which is on Easter Saturday, but I'm tempted to give the Friday night Port Erin 10k a bash as well.
Last year I arrived in Port Erin just after the 10k had finished and wished I'd got there a bit earlier.
I've never competed - always more focussed on the Manx Mountain Marathon that weekend, however obviously I have a involvement with the Marshalling side of it. I also attended the after event party & can recommend it purely on the strength of that!!
The atmosphere is great, you won't regret it. However for obvious reasons I would also recommend you skip the hill race on the Saturday & do the Manx Mountain Marathon instead!! Though Peel Hill Race is good course as well if you're not prepared to do the Mtn.
I'm so naughty!!!!!!
I've been a couple of times with Leeds Uni and can highly recommend it. The hill race on the Saturday isn't that much of a fell race, certainly not when compared to the Manx on the same day. The standard is pretty varied, some top class athletes (last year Gareth Raven and Donald Naylor were up the front in the guys races), loads of drinking to be done as well.
