We've just been out reccying the route, mainly to check out the recent change. We ran from the sailing club but after about 8 miles we reached the fox stone cairn blumming freezing and getting knackered from miles of snow plodding. We gazed at the clag covering featherbed Trig point and decided to save it for another day.
Question is - do you think the race will be held if conditions stay like this?. Think of the marshalls standing for hours in those conditions?
Don't get me wrong, I really hope conditions pick up and the race goes ahead; fed up with trudging through snow now.

I haven't spoken to this year's race organisor directly but the organisor of the original route, Frank Sykes, always used to say, "If you can get to the start, the race is on."

Went up 'F for fun' hill, onto Ashway Rock and round to the Fox Stone, early yesterday morning, dropped down from the Fox Stone, as you say trudging knee deep in the stuff gets tedious....

I'm sure the race will be on ....See you next weekend

I also did a stint on Saturday from Alderman through to the Foxstone. Lots of snow but most dramatic was the rockfall from Dovestones Edge which I witnessed from near the Memorial Cross. Rifle crack and a (smart) car sized block crashed down the steep slope. Thought it might even have reached the reservoir path but splintered and thankfully halted before. Carried on round to view the scar and thought of the many times I have slogged that slope to climb on the edge! Freeze/thaw big mountain action on the Chew rim - it's all there on our doorstep
