Does anyone have any details of John North's Pennine Way cycling record in 1978 ?? Even the date will do - I know he had a big backup team of fell runners !!

John must have taken the (inaugural?) record set by Barry Davies, Ron Kitching (Ron Kit) Cycles' professional:- http://www.veloveritas.co.uk/2015/01...-davies-dec14/
Barry claims that his actual riding & running time (on the route) of 48 hours is still the fastest. He must have indulged in longer rest periods than John; not to mention an off route detour when his Speedwell titanium frame snapped and he had to pick up his spare bike; to give an overall elapsed time of 3 days 3 hours 33 minutes ( 75 hours 33 minutes ) some 1 hour 7 minutes quicker than Joss' then running record.
John's overall elapsed time stands at 2 days 8 hours 45 minutes ( 56 hours 45 minutes ), see:-

I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!
