Good on yer mate....fantastic event.
Pranged my back on my BG attempt, or else would be there myself. I haven't run since June and it's driving me bloody mad. Bike's getting hammered though!
See you soon mate.:)

I'm entered! As is Mrs tfg and her mate Anita! numbers 83, 84 and 89 :)
Ian, how do you know your numbers? The website still seems to be showing last year's registrations. I entered on-line months ago but cannot see a 2014 list anywhere.
Daz, good you see you've taken the plunge again.
lantern rouge, sorry you're side-lined from the running. I hope the bike is keeping you sane.
'Tis keeping me sane, Nick, but it's not the same as running; and when you have spent so much time training for the BG, running is a big habit.
However, so much training for that hasn't done my climbing legs any harm on the bike. I am still no Pantani, but climbing well.:D
Enjoy the Bullock...wish I was in a fit state to join the fun.
BritNick - I got an email with the numbers on, unless I've mis-understood!?
102 for me :D
Iain - did you say somewhere you were going to go for sub-12!?
I'm going to have another go at sub-14:30
just realised that the date of this year's BS is close to a full moon
so if sky clear, should be no need for a headtorch at all!
The latest list of 2014 entrants is now online here: http://www.bullocksmithy.com/Walkers.php
Recce....pretty sure I'll go adrift somewhere between Earl Sterndale and Cumberland Cottage I just can't get it recced. We did go up the other week but the weather was horrendous, we had a drive and wandered in a couple of places but it just served to show how little I recall more than how much I know!! Hopefully I'll be fine this time after Cumberland after my massive cock-up(s) in 2012! :)
today I did the second of my 2 "recces"/training runs this year, which together cover Wheston to Walker Barn
I like to do the bits that'll be dark on the day (i.e. after Earl Sterndale in my case)
I know the route anyway, but it's nice to actually see the landscape, rather than just a pool of headtorch light
if you haven't recce'd, there are 2 or 3 places where it would be VERY easy to go wrong/lose time (even in daylight, let alone in the dark)
Suse and BritNick of here both going strong at Edale CP4 this afternoon (approx. 18 miles into 56 miles). Sue going through in about 3:15 and Nick in about 3:25 Hope they can keep going strong into the night and can avoid the clag that's floating about.
Well done James Scott-Buccleuch, home dry(ish) in 9:18.
Next 5 due in soon.

Daz the Slug, 14.10ish I think I'm sure he'll confirm or otherwise.
Myself 12.48. Might be my last run over this 'cos I think this might be my terminal speed for it, though I may walk again next year :)
Iain - Congrats on a fantastic time! a sub-13! you must've been doing some sneaky training!? ;)
I had a remarkably good run, feeling pretty good all the way round and sticking like glue to my 14:29 schedule (never being more that 4 minutes either up or down on it http://s3.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/s...erd_smiley.gif ) and clocking 14:28 at the finish - somebody said I'd finished 40th which, if confirmed, I would be well chuffed with.
Highlights included the sunset (as I was moving between Fivewells ridge and Chelmorton), the SuperMoon lighting the way and topping out Macc Forest seeing the lights of Greater Manchester laid out ahead like a giant glittering golden lake
Cheers and well done to you too Daz!
Wasn't too sneaky training!! I was fairly fit from WHW race, which I'd trained quite well for. Was slightly concerned that I'd rested up after it though, then didn't want to do too much leading up. To be honest Bullock was a little bit of an after thought as it were, but on the day I got into a good group early on. Ran from Peak Forest virtually solo, so last years walk through paid dividends!
Well pleased :)
Weather looking good for this year....
My body isnow well attuned to hot dry sunshine so I. Hope that is what we get! Not sure big mountain walks in Pyrenees were good recovery from the GRP but the opportunities were too good to miss so I will just have to do my best on tired legs
Just been up to recce some tricky bits for myself and Mrs tfg! Hopefully it'll stay in my head and provide some shorter, quicker options! If its similar weather, with a little less rain it should be spot on, if a little chilly through the dark hours!? Looking forward to it!
Planning to do this for the first time.
What do people use for reflective patches in the kit requirements? Are reflective strips on a rucksack OK for the rear patch?
I've usually taken a reflective bib to put over my rucksack (forgot to put it on one year.... oops). Some people have squares pinned on to the back of their rucksack.
Hi karen i am interested how did the grp compare to the utmb?
Strange run this year! really heavy legged early on...felt very tight and tired. Got a decent feed at Edale and felt a bit better. tried to relax and get a steady, self preserving pace going. Any chance of sub 12 hours was out the window. I'd started to think about just getting round and would have been happy with anything under 14! At Peak Forest started to realise that I'd become badly dehydrated so got into a better drinking routine and slowly from there picked it back up. From Millers Dale I felt ok. Went well to Walkers Barn then just got fatigued...finished in PB of 12.37! So kind of happy...I think. Hello again Nick Ham, it was me again, that spoke to you....though I guess loads did! :)
Give us a clue Iain. When and where? Although even with that information there's no guarantee I'd remember, knowing me. There was a lot of 'networking' that went on.
Well done with your time. They were perfect conditions for fast times this year. I was delighted to finish only 22 mins outside my PB of 2010, especially after recent PW performances. The after-effects of business travel must be wearing off.
Hope you all had a good run - sorry I wasn't there, but I was running across Wales. I've updated the Runfurther website with the Bullock Smithy results & added a link to Karen's blog. Let me know if anyone's done any other blogs & I'll add them too - and a link to Nick's photos once he's put them on Flickr.
Read by blog Karen- [email protected] I did a report on the race but also a comparison. they are quite different in some respects. I liked both, not sure how I would chose. had a better time at GRP except for trashed feet towards the end.
So long as the video is not my death march into the hall to finish or your musical farting after Brand Top
Ha-ha Karen. The recording quality would never do justice to the musicality of the farting and its spontaneity precluded its recording anyway. :D Blame the hot dog.
ok so who else will be there for the striking of the anvil?
